The steps of cooking ordinary (Kansai) Okonomiyaki Cookbook

1. Mix all ingredients in a plastic bowl – if you mix ingredients in a plastic bowl instead of a glass or metal bowl, you will get the texture of the okonomiyaki you want, so this is a good starting point for your Okonomiyaki cooking skills.

2. Start frying the mixture into a teppanyaki grill – circle the mixture in the same way as you would with a Japanese made spatula, Hera.

3. Flip the pie like a pancake – you need to flip as many salty pancakes as you can to get the perfect color and texture. Unlike cooking that can only be done on a Teppanyaki, Okonomiyaki can be done on Teppanyaki grills and on a regular frying pan or frying pan.

4. Add mayonnaise - this is a tip on how to effectively use mayonnaise as an Okonomiyaki topping; instead of making zigzag patterns aimlessly with it, try making a mesh on the surface of the pancake and then sealing the edges by making a circular pattern. This way, the sauce doesn't drip from Okonomiyaki and stays in place within the grid pattern you made earlier.

5. Add Okonomiyaki sauce and aonori – first add Okonomiyaki sauce to pancakes (please note that this is different from ordinary soy sauce, because it is a mixture of honey, tomato sauce and soy sauce, which can make pancakes have better flavor). Then sprinkle the green onion! Laver is a dried seaweed that also enhances the flavor of Okonomiyaki pancakes.

6. Add the winning soup – sprinkle the winning soup (dried fish slices) to add the final flavor to the whole dish, which will bring you the exotic flavor you have never had before.

7. Serve while hot - cut the pancakes into small pieces and serve. Enjoy this Japanese salty pancake!

The right way to eat okonomiyaki

You can choose one of two ways to eat Okonomiyaki meat and vegetable pancakes, i.e. using Hera (small scoop), then eating directly from the teppanyaki grill, or transferring it to a small plate or bowl, and then using chopped sticks.

Okonomiyaki itself is a great meal, so technically, you really don't need to mix it with anything else.

However, if you do want to match it with something else, I recommend that you match it with a green salad with Asian flavoring.

As for drinks, you can have sake, soda or juice.
